Cooking Three Farmers Golden Quinoa

At Three Farmers, we all agree our quinoa tastes great, but we’ve spent many hours debating the best way to cook it. With no clear winner, we’ve decided to share them all, so pick your favourite and let us know which you prefer!

 

 

   IN THE MICROWAVE
    Super smart, super simple

  1. Thoroughly rinse 1 part quinoa in a sieve under a running tap.
  2. Place quinoa in a microwave safe bowl and add 2 parts water.
  3. Cover and cook on High for 10 minutes.
    Remove and let sit, covered, for 10 minutes or until remaining water is absorbed.
  4. Fluff with a fork.

     ON THE STOVE –
     Enjoy the sound of gentle simmering

  1. Thoroughly rinse the quinoa in a sieve under a running tap.
  2. Place 1 part quinoa to 2 parts water in a saucepan.
  3. Bring to boil.  Cover and cook on low for approximately 15 minutes.
  4. You’ll know it’s ready when the water is absorbed and the quinoa is translucent and tender.

     IN THE RICE COOKER  
     It’s as easy as rice!

  1. Thoroughly rinse quinoa in a sieve under a running tap.
  2. Place 1 part quinoa in rice cooker and add 2 parts water.
  3. Cover with lid and cook as with rice.
  4. Quinoa is cooked when rice cooker switches to off.
  5. Fluff with a fork.

*Tip: Try using chicken or vegetable stock instead of water or sprinkle with your favourite mix of herbs to add flavour whilst it cooks.
